What client do you use and why?
Is it better?
Does it have more features?
Is it easier to use?
Have you just not tried anything else?
I guess I'm just curious. |

Simple, looks like a regular text editor for clandestine using at work, I can type in aliases/triggers/variables/colors on the fly (don't need to fuddle with clicking windows), supports button mapping, is relatively easy to program scripts with, and its a small program with no copy protection. |

I use Mud Master 2000. Its a newer non-dos based version of Mud Master.
I started playing with Mud Master, and haven't ever liked any other client. JMC was too slow, Zmud was too weird....Mud Master is awesome... its fairly simplisitc, being dos-based, but it has a lot of options and a lot of flexiability. As far as I know, there is nothing Zmud can do that Mud Master can't do. |

Gmud.
I get no satisfaction from a script doing something for me and it teaches me to type better. |

Started out on Telnet not knowing there was anything else. Then Gmud because it was free although it sucked so I broke down and paid the 20 for Zmud. Never knew of any other but Zmud and Gmud till now. |

Since I started this topic, should probably say what I use.
I started on GMud, and quickly realized how useless it was (at least in my programmer eyes). Then I downloaded JMC, but I just couldn't get used to it. Next I tried Mud Master and couldn't figure out how to scroll up and the profile setup seemed too much of a hassle. After that I download Rapscillion, only to discover it was for macs (guess I should have checked that one out first ).
Now I have finally settled on WinTin.net. It's got (almost) everything I might possibly want and more. Try it! It's free, open source (not that it matters to most people), easy to use, and has good helpfiles.
Download it at:
http://www.wintin.org/
It's got a built-in tick counter with easy setup and I also have a separate window where all tells/say/yells get sent to so I never miss a word.
Or just do what you've been doing. Whatever. I'm just a n00b and don't know anything.
I'll shut up now. |

Cool kids use gmud. It is free, I can type, and it has all the extra crap if you feel like using alias, triggers, and even macros.
Grayden Grim tricking out gmud.
I think I will check out wintin thoe.
forget wintin
Need the .NET Framework on DVD? We'll be shipping the Framework to customers in the US on DVD (International customers must contact their local Microsoft subsidiary.) You can order the disks today..... too much hassle

First went talent then got JMC, liked it then tried others but didn't like how they worked and never forked over money for zmud so I'm still using JMC its simple and easy to use |

What are you talking about?
For those few people who don't have the .net framework (trust me people, you probably do) theres a nice, easy-to-find link to ge it right off of windows update.
For most people, all you have to do is just download and install.
And check out the screenshots. Not quite as good as ZMud, but close! |

I use Mushclient, umm cuz when my brother played like 7 years ago or so that's what he used and I never upgraded. It's free and it's not hard to use but pretty much shitty client if you want to script and shit. |

JMC
Its fast, simple and has most nessecary features that other clients have. With newer versions you can set up scripts both with command line and using specific windows.
Drawbacks: Its a pain to write really complicated scripts. Although you can you can use javascript, if you wish to have things like extra window for tells or even set it up so it shows when your spells wear off, but the javascript feature is just too annoying to use. |

As much as I love Mudmaster 2000 (to scroll up hit alt + up arrow), I think I will download wintin and give it a shot... I don't really want to learn all the commands all over again, but it seems very similar to Mudmaster, and I would freekin love to have all the conversations go into a seperate window. |

Just to speed things up for you:
Code: |
#window {Chat} {says '|tells you '|tells the group '|You say '|You tell |NEWBIE chats: '|You NEWBIE chat: '| yells: '|You yell '} |
Should work.
Um, by the way, am I allowed to post script code here or should I do it on Invokation.net exclusively in the future?
