I voted yes. Lack of weapon makes up for squid OPness. Especially Necro with huge slashing vuln. I could see it being tons of fun though. |

Obviously, the sushi vote means "We should have squid necros so that I can slash them and make sushi."
So right now the poll is at 9 to 5 in favor. |

Using cone to interrupt a turn undead would actually not be a bad use case for it.
And I thought sushi was the yawn option. |

We need Druids more than we need squid necros. |

Ceridwel priority really depends, right now we have 19 races and I think 16 classes (but one is vampire)... I didn't exactly write monks from scratch and it still took me months to finish plus additional support tuning. Versus say opening a race combo which is five minutes honestly, its an attractive task if it gets players enjoying something they previously hadnt even played before (ie. same result as adding the new class), and I dont have to worry about game balance almost at all sometimes.
I think as the game has evolved it does kind of make sense sometimes to open the previously disallowed combos. The illithid necromancer in particular, at least from where I am sitting, looks pretty safe - there is diminishing returns on chain lag now, so it isn't disgusting. Its a really harsh vuln. If Uvet had gone with an illithid necro I am sure he would be struggling with that. The cone of force and shock are both ideal for necro though because (A) the cone of force would let you interrupt turn undead (a big deal now, wait and see) (B) just having shock gives you a beter shot at keeping your bag of souls
I would still probably talk to Resatimm to see how he feels about this combo, but as I look at it, I do see an opportunity to get some high value out of the work needed. Plus an illithid controlling zombies.. well that seems like some form of mind control to me. I think the slash vuln would really make sure they are toast against most competent players
We probably will add only one new race, for druids |

I actually think it fits rather well riding on the heels of the alhoon custom race tag, and we just had our first alhoon recently. I forgot who it was but I think he's still around |

that was mine it was fun, I think a Alhoon necro would be pretty sweet. Undead raising undead minions to fight for his unholy and sacrilegious self could make for some awesome rp as well |

Just to be clear, we're talking about an Illithid Necromancer who can't wear a weapon, so won't be able to rend? Or are we going to find a way to compensate for that? |

I don't know if we should find a way to compensate. It's what makes an illithid an illithid. |

Necros don't need rend. Especially not now with minion lags. Cone would make illithid necros unbelievably strong |

I would personally keep it that way without the rend, makes you use your skills or hunting methods more than just rending someone to death. this way they have to find that bashing, or tripping zombie. makes it more interesting to me that way. |

The idea of rend was nice. A spell pumped my damroll that damages your own hp. It just never had the right ratio of damage to hp loss and the damroll scaling was hard to get right. I tried to fix it and failed twice so I'm not gonna talk shit about it but I don't think it was ever in that sweet spot of being just right. |
