No idea when this was changed, but well done someone.
There is a great help file on curse weapon, but who reads that, you really should, it rocks. Sure you can still make an item no remove, which I have always liked, but there is an amazing part of the spell I had overlooked.
You can bound a mundane (not rare ect) weapon and it is altered to be more deadly (I assume level appropriate). You can also name this bound weapon. so don't ruin it for everyone.
Practicing the spell I bound two handed sword, I would have preferred a polearm, but if the dark gods give you a sword, create them a river, of blood ofcourse.
I am not sure the limit on what type of weapon you can do, but I am fairly sure you cannot enchant them beyond covering in ice.
I had some fun weapon thoughts I wanted to share.
A water cube named Breathtaker for those who fear the hardy fellows would be interesting, also fun choices, a razor wire noose or devils rod if that is your thing.
The point is that you can now elevate simple weapons, perhaps a goblin shortsword that now mangles as it hits when your level 30, no idea how that translates to pinnacle.
Thoughts or fun weapon ideas? |

Grayden,
For DKNS/vampires/whatever else gets it, cursing a mundane weapon is pretty legit. There are requirements though, such as obviously not a rare, not magical damage (there goes your water cube idea), and I think something else that I can't remember. At pinnacle if I remember correctly, it makes the weapon an AVG 27 damage weapon. Only downside is that it also for whatever reason makes the weapon weight like 9.5 ounce or something ridiculous. Unfortunately you like a one handed sword, well the only thing with it after that is having to dual wield it instead of it being your primary. |

Ave 27 is hard to beat. No magic attack, so goodbye devils rod and mindspecters but there are mithril, silver or iron weapons. I think a piercing weapon would be a good strategy.
More ideas
A grave digger's shovel named No-return
Or
A huge, wicked looking scythe named Reaper
I seriously like the scythe idea, but I can't be only one throwing out ideas.
Any other weapon and name combos you guys like? |

I used polearms so that on death I could beckon and have set parry /parry out the gate and be in a more defensible position. |

I couldn't get the name change to work. Was I just fat-fingering? |

it checks for bad names though - any name that would be rejected at character creation will cause curse weapon to fail
maybe not any name, it might be slightly less strict than char creation |

Grayden,
You mentioned a huge, wicked-looking scythe. I friggin' love the item description and I would much rather it be an iron weapon instead of steel so it at least has a vuln attached to it.
Also, I had two ideas for weapon names. For a slicing weapon, I'd name it Severance and for a flail or mace or a beating weapon, I'd name it Sufferage.
A huge, wicked-looking scythe named, 'Severance'. |

I also like the scythe idea, if Reaper is no good I think I like Soul-reaper or Soul-Sunder.
For iron you always have a dagger and flail in the unlit city.
The sword I actually bound is a claymore named 'Lifedrinker'. Fairly happy with it.
My other idea, valuing piercing, a bloody dirk named 'Spine-tickler' |

If curse weapon actually makes any random non-rare and non-magical weapon avg 27 (as opposed to doing something with the dice rolls), then there could be a lot of opportunities for fun stuff with low level weapons like brooms, pitchforks, fishing poles, etc. |

You wield a heavy crowbar named 'Freeman'.
A heavy crowbar named 'Freeman' feels like a part of you! |

I was just shocked I missed this and thank you. When players can make custom parts in the game, like room descriptions for their hovels, we should be excited.
The scythe worked perfectly, my runner up would have been a pitchfork named 'Doom'.
@Ceridwel to name the weapon, after you bond one, cast the spell again, cast 'curse weapon' scythe name Reaper, and now I got a scythe named 'Reaper'. |

Harvester was another name I was debating on for the scythe. Also a weapon named Persuasion sounds legit to me. |

If you curse a weapon at lower level, will its damage scale with your level or will it remain the same?
e.g. should one wait until 50 to curse a weapon or you can grab anything you like and make it yours at low level w/o having to fear having a gimp weapon in future? |

A hammer named Knucklebone
A meat cleaver named Freshness
I had a razorwire noose named Judgement
Also a bar towel named Snapper would be hilarious
& congrats to our new edition to immortals, I could not post on update thread, so feel free to elevate me to playing all races and I will continue saying nice things. 😀
Seriously I appreciate this game still waiting for me to get my life together and the updates to improve play. |
