I want to gallantly tip the real hat I am wearing, and it should say the hat's name. |

I should be able to do the tip hat emote when wearing anything on my head and it should say "tips his hat". |

I was just talking with Ceridwel and out of the blue I said you should have to be wearing a hat to tip your hat and he agreed it was a good idea.
What do you all think? Is it dumb to restrict you from using the tip emote if you don't have a hat? Or would it make hats cooler?
I was thinking about making a little command "tip" that checks to see if the item in your head slot has the word "hat" anywhere in its description or doesn't have certain words like "helmet" or "circlet", then you can tip your hat. Otherwise, it says you're not wearing a hat.
I could also change it to say the actual headwear you are wearing when you tip it, so instead of gallantly tipping your hat you would gallantly tip a ranger's stetson. |

You should also need a bird to flip someone the bird then. If you have a bird hat you can do both. |

While I agree with the concept of tipping a hat requiring a hat, I wanted to add a thought:
Do hats from Peaches the seamstress count (and clothing from wardrobes in general)?
If so, the hat from Winter in the Faction of Steel suddenly has a use. |

leave as is, there is so many emotes that you would have to fine tune should you start meandering down this slippery slope. how do you bang your head against the nearest wall in the middle of the dragon sea? for example |

I concur with tayyah. If you're not wearing a hat, dont use the tip social. |

Slays for people tipping their hats without hats. And tayyah, I'm sure if you were your own cabal leader youd find a way. |

A hat tip can also be a gesture. Touching a forelock, but as there is no social for that, we can, what's it called, use our imagination. |

Had another funny thought...
The tinfoil hat and Santa hat at Mundo's place could also be used for tipping.
(Of course, the key word "hat" is presumably a must if this is even implemented... Though I am not sure if the Ancient Ranger Lord's Stetson would be an alternative or not.) |

Maybe we should add specific hats. So if you're wearing the Stetson or the Santa hat, you can tip that specific hat. But if you're not wearing them the emote acts normally. |

Yeah this would be the best of both worlds, Nycticora. |

I can, and have IRL, mad e a gesture as though tipping a hat to someone while I was not wearing a hat. I don't see any solid reason to limit folks use of that emote based on worn Eq. |

I think seeing "Blah gallantly tips the ancient ranger lord's stetson." would break my immersion because the sentence just doesn't flow very well, it seems like I'm tipping someone else's hat instead of my own hat. But, that is just my opinion. I don't know why pretending to tip a hat when you dont actually have a hat is not so jarring. Might be fun to have a bowler hat you can throw at people like oddjob though, using the tip command
tip hat phredjonez --> You throw your hat at phredjonez's throat
