After hundreds of unrecognizable characters I have decided it is best to learn almost all skills. Even if that means you burn some training to get more practices.
In this generalized statement I am referring to spending 1 practice and using as much resources as possible to train hp.
I don't know how the world works, but when you apply that extra effort to build your skills up to a learned degree, it seem like you gain less hp each level, like a cosmic auto balance.
When I practice almost everything and burn those resources I feel like I gain more each level and I have not gimped my skills. Like the game knows it is no longer possible to apply those resources for a hp bump.
Am I crazy? Anyone have similar results? Can we peek behind the curtain for the best way to approach practicing? |

RNG says you're wrong.
In all seriousness, the easiest way to prove this out for concrete evidence is same race/class, have 2-3 chars rank to 50 (one with 1prac's, one with 75% each skill), throw what's left into hp, and record all data. |

Everyone has got a different method.
Personally, I have not one practiced a character in like 10 years. I did it once, and never did it again. I find it's a waste of my time.
You really don't need to train up characters either, you can do some math to figure out what you would have at the end.
Warriors have 50 skills. At level 50 with a human warrior you would have 150 practice sessions and 10 training sessions.
1 practice all skills = 20 total trains into hp (if that's what floats your boat) for a total of +200 HP.
2 practice all skills = 15 total trains into hp, for a total of +150 HP.
I suppose then the question is; Is 75 or so hours worth of training, for 50 HP going to be enjoyable to you? Is it that 50 HP that decides a fight for those high end PKers? I would say, probably not.
But, for some people, it provides incentive to train. If you have terrible training %, you won't be more likely to rank up when you should be training.
Most of it's going to be opinion. |

@Faelon - the problem with your argument is that it doesn't address the biggest point in Grayden's post.
He's not talking about whether to 1-prac or not in general; he said when he 1-prac's, the individual gains on leveling (hp, mana, mvs) are NOTICEABLY LOWER than if he fully practices, meaning he believes there's a coded equalizing difference (and therefore a hard-coded difference/disincentive for 1-prac'ing).
Basically, if there's a hard coded difference that recognizes someone is trying to 1-prac and milk the extra pracs/trains versus someone who pracs everything to 75%, then it would penalize or punish people spending scarecrow/surge/guild reward time trying to make up the differences in their skills practice time. I'd be curious to see if that's legit or not.
With warrior types, skills training isn't that big of a pain in the ass. With mages and clerics, due to the mana strain, there's almost no way I'm 1-prac'ing spells. |

I have like no actual evidence but I would say that at least recently I agree with Grayden. I have been disappointed with the payout of 1 practicing |

The best way of testing is to not push it all the way to 50 but instead do 25 and extrapolate from there. That's my thought at least, I only single prac tho |

I haven't bothered to 1 prac since Balan. Maybe that's why I am not doing as well? Nah, that's not it. |

Whether I do single practice sessions depends entirely on the race... And this is putting aside the fact that a significant portion of my characters have been races with enough intelligence to get to 75% in one session. Prior to halflings going from 17 to 18 max intelligence (in fact I deleted a character partially due to this change) I deliberately used two practice sessions because it exactly got me to 75% (38% with one session, 75% with the second). Half-elves... Well they gain skills so damn fast that the second session generally isn't worth it, especially if you have a lot of secrets.
The one thing I remember doing (before any boosts existed besides guild rewards) which was a pain in the neck was trying to train an avian caster with one session on some vital spells... It took forever to train I think it was three or four spells, and in the end I had not used a combat spell nearly often enough, one which would have been useful to have mastered.
But in general, I either (a) play a race which gets to 75% naturally or (b) do not use one session (half-elves being the exception but I rarely play those) |

If I played half elves I would 100 percent 1 prac everytime. Otherwise no... |

I thought half-elves got the training boost taken from them.
@vhrael, You're right, I missed what he was saying. And no, I've never noticed any different between the two, nor would I think there would be a difference. |
