When Dav and Olyn and I were originally talking about the DK rework, the core idea was that dark knights should be like the opposite of paladins. Instead of being pious, they'd be malevolent. Instead of defense through straightforward spells that reduce or mitigate incoming damage like Sanctuary or Cure (light, serious), they'd have a defense that relies on intimidating and deceiving the opponent.
I was never totally sure I got this right and that the end result matches what we were going for with the Abyssal Bulwark skill.
What do you think about it? |

I think it's an awesome concept and it's original, but there's also maybe a reason why there aren't that many DKs. I'll roll a lawful DK and then get back to you. |

I enjoy this new thing that's progressing. It's not quite as good as the "Should've Flurried" one though. |

I'm going to err on the side of I really like it, for the exact reason you mentioned Nyc. It FEELS like an anti-heal, or as close as I can imagine it being coded in to feel that way.
Of course, that's why I'm just a player and not making the big bucks like you guys.
But I do think that fell spark is a little TOO much of a vamp touch rework, in that you basically have to use it on weak enemies to recover faster. Maybe it could get stronger (the vitality drain portion) as you get weaker, I don't know. |

Sorry for the repost. Was just thinking that fell spark could be solely a vitality drain. You get back a portion for the bulwark. Some percentage. And the total strength of the spell could be based on your current health and bulwark level, being strongest when both are low. A last ditch effort sort of thing feels pretty evil to me. |

Or AoE where it gets stronger with more enemies in the room? Has the drawback of being a gamble in a place like emerald. But would help in 2v1+. |

I actually love one fact about bulwark, and that's the whole "deceiving" your enemy by looking injured while having the level of it high. This could be like the opposite of that...revealing how injured you are by lashing out when you're hurt. |

I used fell spark in a fight a couple times and it was really nasty in pvp, do you guys really think it's a little on the weak side? It's true that it kind of sucks if your enemy has saves vs mal but it should be super horrible if the guy you're fighting has no saves. |

Pros:
It's pretty strong, actually.
Thematically, it makes great sense based on the "abyssal/fell" history.
Having a maledictive damage spell is beneficial. Love the idea of black lightning, by the way. Would be cool to maybe port some of that idea over to lightning bolt. Like a random chance to cast black lightning.
Cons:
It's just "another" way of keeping abyssal bulwark up, which doesn't add much excitement to THAT spell. (However, it does seem a lot faster than casting bulwark over and over again, especially if you find the right mobs to hit with it)
Having a second single target damage spell doesn't add a lot of fun factor.
P.S. Hope this comes off as "constructive" criticism. Your ideas really are cool. |

Now there's a thought for invokers with lightning/ice/fire specializations: a RNG chance to throw a special one.. not for extra damage, necessarily, but for RP.
Black lightning. Red ice. Purple fire (Skol Vikings!!). |
