This might be a dumb question. I was going to search for it, but search still doesn't work. I've been trying to write up a list of ecasts for my spells, but I noticed that when I ecast, it doesn't display the message for me that it displays to other people, so I was wondering if there is a length maximum, or whatever. The ones I've written up aren't obscenely long, but with the cast message, they might exceed a normal line on telnet. I figured I might as well ask, because I'm a perfectionist, and if I use an ecast or something that is too long and clipped and I don't find out for a while, it will drive me insane.
Thanks. |

Ha ha you sound like me.
Yea it sucks that it dose not display to you what everyone else sees, but after asking alot of people I am sure that my ecast is 'flickering demonic fire roars behind his pupils', so if it is shorter then mine you should be ok. I do not know if there is a limit, so good luck perfectionist.
Grayden Grim glad to see another perfectionist suffer. |

75 characters (including your name and the spell name) is a good limit to aim for if you are worried about going over the default windows telnet line length ..which I think is 80.
i.e. do something like
123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345
Ashr hisses and claws at the air as he utters 'rend life'.
=> ecast 'hisses and claws at the air as he utters' 'rend life'. |

But if I exceed the 75 (or 80) marker, which I do with at least one, does it clip, or just spill over to the next line? My longest ecast is 84, when I count it out with the name and spell message.
Also, in your example, you have Name emote utters spellname. Is that order correct? I thought it was Name utters spellname, emote. (Just wondering if I have to revise them all) |
