Jaran was born with noble blood in his veins. His parents were well known and respected within the Elven community. His father was an elder and with this, Jaran felt enormous responsibility to live up to expectations. As was tradition in Elven society, the nobles were not expected to do anything other than rule with wisdom and as the spawn of a noble family, this was Jaran's future. For the first 15 years of his life he was trained in history, politics, arts and languages in preparation for a life of privilege and power. Jaran was spoilt and lived his life as if everything was to be given to him, as if it was owed to him in his position of privilege. As this was occurring, a plot was in action to overthrow the nobles of the clan by a neighboring and secret Drow sect, they knew that Jaran was too young to take control of the clan and decided that the time was right to attack. The Drow slaughtered his parents and he barely escaped with his life heading into the wilderness to hide. His clan destroyed, his family killed he found refuge in the wilderness and the forests and for 2 years he hid there vowing vengeance on the drow. Then at the age of 17 Jaran finally reappeared in the city of Valour when all had thought him lost.
