Title: the Ruler of the Dead Gender: Male Level: 50 Class: humannecromancer
Background history:
Description:
The left eye of this crippled creature oozes pus from its jaundiced cavity. His cheeks are sunken deep into his skull. His nose, cut of the flesh so that the cartilage is all that remains, whistles as he breathes in and out. His nails, yellow like his left eye, form curled claws extending inches out of his fingers. The top of his head is covered with oily, black, balding hair.
Didn't see the rant, but I'd guess he means the stuff about not being able to have automatically hasted zombies, and needing to have to strength damned. It was a decent kick in the nuts to the necro class. You can trivially kill fresh zombies, and even fully buffed ones with certain classes. And you guys probably should reconsider your (as a whole) views on group pk. Groups bring more stuff to the table so it becomes much less a game of have vs have not, like being able to calm a rage zerker, or haste your group, or summon away things you dont want to become zombie, etc etc. I'm not making heavy handed nerfs, just look at whole subtle the recent change is to mania for instance, but these changes I'm making are not simply insignificant ones either, and you guys should really think about what you're trying to motivate me to do. I'm actually a firm believer in "going with the flow".. meaning this - things behaving the way a player would expect them to is a satisfactory result, and I think we are getting there with necros. Little by little though.
I really disagree with you on group pk especially against someone who put a lot of time in their character equipment rp only to be hosed in 2 minutes by 2 or 3 people. The game is not balanced if someone cannot beat someone else 1v1. I am not sure if I am alone in this feeling but I don't like where this game is going when a fully geared zerker or dkn can just show up and murder you with ease. At least a necro has to prep an army those two classes "worked hard" by being in a group to get eq. No matter how many mastered defenses, being in the right combat stance weapon choice when you get hit by an oblit through sanc it just leaves you feeling like wtf am I even doing trying to play any class aside from a zerker or dkn. Obviously dkns don't do oblits through sanc, but they sure as hell can do dismembers plus bash plus mals, plus afflics, plus charmie
ozaru what you just completely didnt acknowledge was that some classes are meant to be way, way better duellists than others. Its part of being a skilled player to figure out what those purposes are. Do you ever see illusionists in the battle arena duelling Lorne? no and I'm sure you never will actually play one. . There are certain classes that are excellent duellists and it is not just one class, and to say that is a flaw in the game design is just a little bit narrow
perfect balance = one class , one race
we'll certainly keep the duellists capable of having a decent duel because its what the players expect when they play those classes
dark-knights, should not be excellent duellists, and surprise, they have pulverize type stuff (rogue element), and invis
should paladins be excellent duellists? think about that one
I fully acknowledge lorne as being a great duelist in a phone booth, maybe increase the size of the arena to make it more realistic to mitigate that. His record is great, but 3 oblits in 2 seconds isn't cerebral and I think it takes away from the game and warlords as a whole. I personally never saw anything wrong with berserkers in the past, just like warriors they needed a pimp suit to be competitive, now they don't. I mean this with all sincerity, I want to see how someone can beat lorne in a fight with a monk
However, as I have stated before, those oblits are gone if you fight them in an area with a bunch of level 50 mobs. Even level 35 mobs are going to slow him down and allow for a bunch of free murders.
On Voglin, I never fought anyone in an area where I couldn't control what was going to be around me. At least, if I was going to use mania/rage, which is basically the only way you are going to get oblits every round. If someone had used their brains and just summoned up a bunch of mobs during combat, they would have eaten me for lunch if I didn't know they were there.
It turns into berserkers and monks for a reason.. its because they're popular and thus debatable classes.
Ozaru, berserkers are not just a "class", they are the superior physical specimens of the realms. Your argument of berserker vs monk needing to be more "even" is kind of like arguing that bruce lee would win a fight with a gorilla. And the answer is that the gorilla would literally maim bruce lee, he would have his limbs torn from his body and his face eaten. You dont fuck with gorillas man. If you put chuck norris, mike tyson and bruce lee together in a fight with a silver back gorilla, it would fuck all three of them up and it would do so in SECONDS. They are a force of nature. The pounds per square inch of pressure that a gorilla can exert with its death grip makes Brock Lesnar look like a child. Those things have the intellect of a 3 year old and they will gouge your eyes out of your head and then eat a banana afterwards as if nothing happened.
Now, I'm not saying that monk vs berserker need necessarily be that extreme, but they are clearly physically superior. They have more hp, have a race selection which allows higher strength and con, and vulns which are difficult for monks to mitigate. You have your snake kick, your high precision, all that good stuff, but at the end of the day, you're boxing with somebody who has 1.5 times the raw hp that you do and an ability that causes him to deal way more melee damage. There is literally no class in the game that has the raw hp and melee damage that a berserker has. They are the superior duelling class. If you're playing a thief or something, black jack healers all day, because even if they know youre doing it, they aren't going to be able to do much back. But you fuck with berserkers with a thief, man, you're fucking with the wrong sumbitch. That is a bad mother fucker that can really throw some fucking thunder. So before you do that you really need to consider whether its worth risking all your momentum and reputation on that ass-whupping.
Davairus, I needed that laugh. I was cracking up that entire rant! No shit berserkers are ridiculously strong.. THEY'RE BERSERKERS! They don't give a fuck, they're crazy and will smash anything around. I've played a berserker and the friends/allies I had learned to make sure it was safe before running into a room I was at because of all the smashing. And monks can defeat berserkers, but you gotta work around them, like every class does. If there's anything to complain about, it's the mismatch with an invoker/dk matchup... lol those poor invokers.
I regretted it for maybe 30 minutes when I woke up. But now I don't at all. Necros are a waste of your fucking time. If you really want to ruin a necro's day. Wait for him to spell up all his dupes and then just quit on him.

Also, I'm glad you feel that way because I can guarantee you that I have exactly 0 reservations about dunking your character 4 on 1.
