The Beginning
Azhai was brought into the world as most of his fellow larvae were, amidst blood and flesh. Squirming in his newly relocated home which consisted of the blood altar's bowl, Azhai knew what needed to be done. He did not know how, or the fact that he even knew, it was simply ingrained upon his arrival into Serin. Moving from kin to kin, Azhai quickly absorbed what little nutrients the larvae had to offer. Days passed, and Azhai's deeds continued to the point where he transformed into a fledgling flayer. With little more than the slightest of efforts, Azhai was able to enter the minds of insects, and small animals. His practices continued, and his power grew. It was at this point in his young life that Azhai felt the draw to the surface world where innumerable amounts of creatures could be controlled. Garbing a high-collared robe of simple means, Azhai made his way upwards until the light of day stung his eyes. His first encounter showed Azhai that the surface world was to be easily conquered, folk fought against folk with little regard to their own lives. Azhai knew the fruitlessness of this and made his way into the nearest city in order to find what sustenance he could.

Description:

A grotesque creature of disproportionate features stares vacantly into the air before him. A large and bulbous head is surrounded by a mass of squiggling, squirming tentacles that seem to attempt to grasp at anything within reach and push it into to his open beak-like maw. His nearly translucent skin is covered in slime and appears to be a light lavender in color. He is unusually tall and thin, even for his kind.

So this was me. Not sure why it's saying rage deleted, but it's whatever. I haven't been able to play as much as I'd care to as of late due to the military and I'll be moving to Japan within a couple of months and attempting to get everything in order. I had planned on deleting him prior to my fight with Grimjark but I figured, 'hey, one last go before I go". It was a good fight, unexpected but good. Had a lot of fun. This was my second illusionist, the other being Azoth. They're fun to play, but to me killing people easily get old after a while. Once I get settled in Japan I'll start back up, but for now it's break time. Thanks for the fun times everyone.

In what way do you consider the class to be "easy"?

          This is why I'm asking:
          [code:1:3bdbd7459d]
          Grimjark's slice MASSACRES Azhai!
          Grimjark's slash DISEMBOWELS Azhai!
          Grimjark's slice DISMEMBERS Azhai!
          Azhai is DEAD!!
          You hear Azhai's death cry.

          Azhai stands up.

          Azhai has lost his link.[/code:1:3bdbd7459d]

Taking damage that fast doesn't tell me things are "easy".

Because illus can dish out 3x that damage in one round under the right circumstances. And can escape easier than any other class in the game.

Ergorion too the words out of my mouth. It's insane how many people of various classes you can slaughter with pretty much ease. And thanow Nyct, praise from you is quite rare lol

Great run, I loved the "We" RP that was all good stuff. I understand real life stuff, so good luck on your next character.

The easy button on illusionist are the whole land dreams, dispel, then demolish someone. Dreams takes about half of your saves, add a break in, and dispel works way too easy. The cut and paste from the log does not show the full story with regards to the easy button. A warlord is the best one to fight an illusionist because tenacity cannot be dispelled.

If your opponents have the sense to wear some saves, it makes dispel magic really hard to land and in fact almost a non-issue.

Last I was aware the level of the sanctuary had an impact on dispel so a purple was a lot easier to dispel than a defender.

With being immune to me take, dreams takes half of your saves (like -45) add a break and dispel is cake.

Such exaggeration on dreamstruck being OP. Yes, dreamstruck can hit -45, but you will need huge hitrolls for that. Meaning your -45 dreamstruck is going to done at what, 600 max hp? The opponent doesnt even need huge damage to kill you. He can just put on 145 save vs mental and resist your dispel and decimate you to death. It always works both ways. You gain some you lose some....
                                [reply to Haeldan]
                              1. I fought you so many times. it was fun, I still can't believe you fell for my trap :D

Took a look at dreamstruck, 1.5 lag cast with nothing happening at all if the spell fails. The save penalty of dreamstruck would have to double to be worth the price paid. There is a minor damage buff that's only for mental-based damage.

There was something with Dreamstrike once where the user could make it reliable by stacking hitroll or something. Not sure whether or not that was changed. I'd hesitate to call it broken unless the scaling is messed up because it's just one of the possible ways to dunk someone if you're overgeared.

Yes, stack hitroll for better dreamstruck.. which can do +35-40 mental, throw on a 15 break ring and your 130 mental just went to the trash... and all illus need is one or two rounds of opponents sanc being down anyways. Especially illithids, who can dreamstruck, break ring, dispel, CONE, and you're done. Then theirs is shock/transfer mana to hp, which is one of the best racial given abilities in the game I think. That's practically a free 2 rounds in battle, minimum.... 2 rounds is a ton of time when fighting off those huntsmaster illusions.

For some reason I thought that the level of sanc being dispelled was affected by only illusionist's dispel magic... Meaning 140 saves means nothing because of the level sanc vials/purple potions give.

Rangers and warriors have an easier time fighting illus, IMO, out of experience. In fact, I've never died to an illus with a ranger in the past 6-8 years. Having a true dual parry skill is the difference maker. Getting those potential 6-8 attacks a round while still maintaining 3 defenses(4 for warriors, riposte), is much easier to defend the illusions as well as dish out damage.

Also, having a full army of great illusions in a matter of 5-10 minutes is also a huge perk... and being able to instantly release/ c' dupe' at will is huge. Unlike Necros who have to put an hour or two into getting an army... an army that can be killed and then you have to start over. Then necros have to wait 45 minutes to use Strength damned, illus can release illusions, c 'dupe, haste/enlarge over and over all day. Illusions>Zombies...all day.
Anyhow... Kinda rambled a bit on that.
