Okay, I want to say something here, for anyone who follows me, they would know that I have had Heralds out the butt. Starting with my first and the forum tag Andrael, and going up to my last one Libera. Its no surprise, everyone probably knows by now. But I've noticed something, the amazing lack of credit some Heralds get.
While yes, Dav did make a good way to do events, you have to know that Heralds can't make an event like an Imm. They have to put together stuff they can do in game without having to code it. The most they can do is ask for a 'specific item' to be searched for. Even then, it would be highly unlikely to get it unless it was Vanisse or Vevier. I actually dealt more with Vanisse due to Vevier going around the Mystics most of the time for me. Though she was nice enough to promote Libera so I could oversee, which helped a lot.
Other then that, the stuff that Heralds are allowed to PK. They need more than 'I'm evil and you're good so I kill you.' But the example I'll give is Nyc's herald. Dark Knight, was really good at it, despite not being around as often as I would have liked, but that's the Imm life. The reason 'she', the character, went off and killed that dwarf was because during a poker tournament he kept spitting around, refusing to throw the glasses in the bin, and make a mess.
She took it as an attack on her via the dwarf not respecting her. A valid reason for someone who is evil chaotic to do it. She even showed she was irritated and everything, asking then telling him to stop. So, when he didn't she waited for the right time, say when you're on autopilot leveling went and killed him. Now the guy got his panties in a bunch and started a war on the Heralds, something that he failed to do much about since the main herald around was a Duke at the time and the guy didn't want shit with the Knights.
If you're going to be a Herald, make a great RP out of it, make it be the character you're on to have fun and not pk with. I've had invokers(3), a shaman, and a thief as a Herald. The main reason I stopped and deleted them wasn't because I got tired of being a Herald, it was because the character got as far as they could.
So, if you aren't happy that there isn't poker tournaments, or other stuff, don't go whining about it on a LOG BOARD go do something about it and roll up a Herald. Wreitha used to be active enough I wouldn't mind it. And I was serious when I said on the log comments I would have removed her if she was around enough for me to. Vanisse was with me on that due to the inactivity. Staying around enough to not get inactive isn't a way to play a Herald. You need to come about, and at least write a fictional story.
You don't just have to be creative, you have to uphold a great RP, be active, talk to people, be approachable in the game. Break the rules. Beljia was called a paladin in black armor. She took the oath, was always 'good', had a great RP, even married another character. And if you go and look at her background, it doesn't match how it came out in the end. Its fine.
TLDR: Heralds can PK with in character reasons, need to have really good RP, have to be creative, and strive to be a memorable character. |

Lol. This wall of text in response to an observation? Why don't you move your soapbox to the logboards where the conversation is actually taking place instead of starting a shit slinging fight here. Dav has even posted that there's this system in place that heralds never use. Need a link?
And I've had a high herald that ran events without an advanced system to make it easier as many of us have. You're not special. You get no cookie. |

If I want a cookie, I'll get one via Vanisse's grab a cookie thing. I'm not looking for a cookie, and the new system that Dav has in place was something Vanisse told me not to touch with yet. So I had the whole, make an event use that weird time thing, and when I would put out a publication saying HEY I"M DOING A THING! Get your ticket or tough luck, no body would buy a ticket except for at the time the event was suppose to be going on. |

I was talking about one specific herald and honestly it his his right to play however he wants. No was is complaining or whining. I was replying to someone else's statement mostly. Actually yours. You gave your opinion on his stance. I gave mine. |

Sorry I was fighting a war... Back now and more than happy to hand you back the reigns if you can do better Andrael.
Got a new Mystique in the works that I would be more than happy to let you compile.
Just let me know. |

Actually, I'm about 90% sure that ANYONE can create an event and have it show up on the motd. I know some of the setting the time stuff is a little wonky but head into it sober and you'll probably be fine.
Also if you have an idea for an event, just submit an issue or something and I'll try to get items made. The sky's the limit for you, but running events is really Vanisse's wheelhouse, not mine. That's a bit too much social interaction for me, even text-based, but I'll do what I can behind the scenes. Also I'm pretty sure we just cleaned up the Kitten races (now including timers and automated winner calculations) so... |

For the record, that herald was also a murderer. I used to stalk people and kill them in humiliating ways that made them delete, then hide the evidence and bribe or threaten any witnesses. There were a few angry forum threads about it at the time.
That was really a fun one. My favorite characters are the ones whose alignment is just an aspect of the character and not the whole story. There have been some really famous characters like that, like Hans the healer who would summon herectics to the Seringale river and murder them. |

I remember I helped start this controversy started in 1999 when my first level 50 on AR became a pk'ing herald ninja. the idea of a herald ninja is garbage and we werent trying to rp. you could not pull the bullshit we did anymore |
